Our History

Our story began in 1996 as Children's Circle Daycare Society, when a group of Kamloops residents, including many from Royal Inland Hospital, recognized the need for high-quality childcare for healthcare families. We began in a little blue house with 52 spaces near the hospital, and twelve years later (2008), expanded to meet the growing needs of the community by opening the 28-space, St. Paul’s Early Learning Centre. 

Despite the challenges of relocating due to hospital expansion in 2020, our dedication to quality care remained unwavering. In partnership with Interior Health, we opened, and quickly filled, a state-of-the-art 173-space Early Learning Campus in downtown Kamloops in 2022, a key step in our commitment to expanding access to exceptional early learning experiences for families.

In 2024, we rebranded as the Early Learning Society of Kamloops to reflect our broader role in the community and our mission to provide accessible, inclusive early learning and care. This new chapter symbolizes our focus on thoughtful, quality growth while maintaining our core values of excellence and support for families in the Thompson region. Beginning in early 2025, we are excited to assume operations of the year-old Sun Peaks Community Daycare from the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality. This marks a key step in our mission to support and enhance early learning and care services at home and across neighbouring communities, providing high-quality, accessible education for children and families
