Diversity is our super-power! With over 35 staff members from 10 countries and 18 languages spoken, we work to create a rich, inclusive learning environment. Celebrations like Chinese New Year, Persian New Year, and Indigenous Peoples Day bring diverse traditions to life, fostering empathy and respect. Our approach, rooted in the BC Early Learning Framework, helps nurture globally-minded children.

The Early Learning Society of Kamloops collaborates with Big Little Science Center to bring hands-on science education to preschoolers through the Stream to Sea program and community partnerships. This unique collaboration introduces young children to aquatic ecosystems and the life cycle of salmon, fostering curiosity and a love of science.

Kamloops Child Therapy and Family Resource Center delivered a professional development session to enhance educator skills in supporting children with exceptional needs. Through the session, educators learned behaviour modification strategies, including ABC analysis, rewards, and reverse chaining. This collaborative effort equips staff with tools to foster inclusive and supportive classrooms.

The Early Learning Society of Kamloops celebrates diversity with a vibrant Nowruz event, introducing young children to Persian culture through interactive learning and family engagement. Children explored symbolic items, learned Persian words, and engaged with educators from Iran, enriching their understanding of cultural traditions and promoting inclusivity.

The Early Learning Society of Kamloops partners with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Big Little Science Centre for the Stream to Sea Salmon Hatching Program, offering preschoolers a hands-on nature learning experience. Children observe salmon growth, develop scientific inquiry skills, and participate in the release of fry into Tranquille Creek, fostering environmental awareness, social-emotional development, and a lifelong love of learning.
